Class Descriptions

Show classes for:
Ballet I

Beginner/Intermediate Ballet class for students in 1st through 4th grade.  Students will learn terminology and movements, and how to execute them properly in combinations in order to gain muscle, advance skill and prevent injury.  Students will also learn ballet class etiquette, parts of the body and how ballet is the foundation for most dance forms.

Hip Hop I

Beginner/Intermediate Hip Hop class for students in 1st through 4th grade.  This class is designed to improve fitness and increase knowledge in this style of dance.  Students specifically gain knowledge of the various hip hop styles, body movements, and terminology and are challenged with choreography.

Hip Hop II

Beginner/Intermediate Hip Hop class for students in 5th through 8th grade.  This class is designed to improve fitness and increase knowledge in this style of dance.  Students specifically gain knowledge of the various hip hop styles, body movements, and terminology and are challenged with choreography. 

Jazz/Tap II

Beginner/Intermediate Jazz  and Tap class for students in 4th through 8th grade.  This class is designed to teach jazz and tap movements, along with development of dance terminology.

Lyrical II

Beginner/Intermediate Lyrical class for students in 5th through 8th grade.  Lyrical dance combines the mastery of movement with the artistry of expression.  It is this combination, rather than a separation of the two, that makes lyrical dance so powerful.  This class combines skill development and self-expression while exploring the elements or concepts of dance.  
 

Tap I

Beginner/Intermediate Tap class for students in 1st through 4th grade. Class is designed to teach basic tap movements, along with development of dance terminology and skill sets. 

Performance Dance Company

This class is for students in 2nd through 4th grade. Students work with various choreographers, diverse types of instruction, and different dance styles to become versatile dancers.  They make great friends in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.  Students advance faster due to more focused training and gain more confidence. *Teacher approval required prior to registration. 

Performance Dance Company Elite

This class is for students in 5th through 8th grade.  Students work with various choreographers, diverse types of instruction, and different dance styles to become versatile dancers.  They make great friends in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.  Students advance faster due to more focused training and gain more confidence. *Teacher approval required prior to registration. 

After-School Performing Arts Program

Our After-School Performing Arts program is open to students age 6 to 14.  The program includes transportation from select schools in nearby area, daily academic support provided by a professional tutor and performing arts classes providing instruction in acting, singing and dancing.  Application process required prior to on-line registration.  Contact us at (813)389-3576 or ActSingDance@verizon.net for more information.
 

Performance Vocals I

This class is open to students in 1st through 4th grade that love to SING! All levels of experience welcome. With the popularity of television shows American Idol and The Voice, kids are chomping at the bit to flex their vocal muscles.  This class will allow students the opportunity to sing popular songs, ranging from Top 40 hits, yesterday's favorites, Disney and beyond. With a challenging mix of choreography and singing, students will work to create a vicious vocal ensemble that will be sure to impress.  *It is also one of the required class options for our Main Stage Jr. Production participants. 

Acting Fundamentals I

This class is open to students in 1st through 4th grade. Students will strengthen their acting muscles and theatre mind-set through the use of method-based acting exercises, teacher and students lead discussions, and research-based activities.  Scene and monologue work will be a large part of the class focus.  This is class is not intended to be a performance-based class, but rather a class that develops skills students will utilize in their performance classes. The class will culminate with parents being invited to a final rehearsal/show of scenes and monologues. *It is also one of the required class options for our Main Stage Jr. Production participants.

This class open to students in 1st through 4th grade. It is a great blend of performance and exploration centered around the exciting world of musical theatre.  Students will get to flex their acting and singing muscles all while taking on challenging scenes from some of the most popular and beloved musical shows. Monologue and solo work will be a large component of this class, as well as helping students find a better understanding of musical theatre structure and audition techniques. Students will get to work on smaller scenes and selected songs as well as a large production number. This a great class for those interested in giving our theatre program a try.  *It is also one of the required class options for our Main Stage Jr. Production participants. 

Acting for Musical Theatre II

Students will employ improvisations, games and ensemble-driven playmaking to craft a one-of-a kind show filled to the brim with laughs and imagination. Whether they're a prankster, a jokester or just filled with "sillies", this class provides an outlet for students' most creative comedic energy!

Main Stage Jr. Production

This class will solely focus on the Fall semester's Main Stage Jr. Production FROZEN and is open to students in 1st through 4th grade. All students in this class are required to enroll in either Acting Fundamentals I, Acting for Musical Theatre I or Performance Vocals I (at no additional tuition cost). Students will rehearse and craft the show in a semi-professional atmosphere, while learning the importance of ensemble, responsibility, professionalism, and community as it relates to all areas of theatre.  Students are required to attend all rehearsals including tech week and shows.  Students and parents will sign a contract committing fully to the class once casting is set.  Please note this class meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm. 

Main Stage Production

This class will solely focus on the Fall semester's Main Stage Production FROZEN and is open to students in 5th through 8th grade. All students in this class are required to enroll in either the Acting Fundamentals II or Acting for Musical Theatre II (at no additional tuition cost). Students will rehearse and craft the show in a semi-professional atmosphere, while learning the importance of ensemble, responsibility, professionalism, and community as it relates to all areas of theatre. Students are required to attend all rehearsals including tech week and shows. Students and parents will sign a contract committing fully to the class once casting is set. Please note this class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays 4:45-6:00pm, and select Fridays 5:00-6:00pm. 

Technical Theatre

This class is open to students in 1st through 8th grade.  It is designed to teach students more about the technical aspects of theatre through hands-on experiences such as: building and painting the set, painting and sewing costumes, making and embellishing props, dealing with scripts and materials, and more.  Specifically, students will make and help to create the items needed for our performance-based classes.  Students have the option of enrolling in this class monthly and drop-in weekly.

The Greatest Showman (1st-3rd Grade) 6/10-6/14

You saw it on the big screen.  You've listened to the soundtrack a million times. But do you have what it takes to bring "The Greatest Showman" to South Tampa? The Greatest Showman was a major blockbuster last year and now is your chance to be a part of it!  Featuring songs from the hit movie-musical, campers will have a blast learning choreographed routines to the songs they've come to know and love.  Are you ready to put on "The Greatest Show"? Register today!

We know America's Got Talent, so it's time to see what kind of amazing acts are hiding here among us! Just like the smash hit TV show, this session offers a place where campers can reveal what makes them special! This camp will encourage participants to hone and grow their gifts in a variety of genres like singing, dancing, comedy, magic, stunts, variety, and more.  Of course, it wouldn't be a proper show without some hilarious judges and coveted Golden Buzzer. The week will culminate in a talent show like no other, where every act is a winner!

Following in the footsteps of blockbuster musicals like Smokey Joe's Cafe', Ain't Misbehavin', and Side by Side, this session will bring together iconic songs from the Broadway stage, exciting comedy sketches, and high-energy dance that everyone can do! Students will get to stretch their creative muscles, trying on larger than life characters, learning show-stopping songs and creating a performance that's sure to get the audience on their feet! The soundtrack will pull from many eras of musical theatre, guaranteeing something for everyone. Come join the party at the Broadway Cafe'!

Seeking all the class clowns and big personalities we can! This is SUMMER CAMP LIVE! Modeled after shows like Saturday Night Live, this camp seeks to bring students together who love being funny and having fun! Over the course of the week, students will help write, direct, and star in a brand new sketch comedy show! Complete with improv games and original song parodies, this is the perfect place for the goofball in your family to work together with new friends and start this summer month off right.

Students will engage their imagination as they work with each other to generate an action-packed, high-octane fight scene while learning the basics of hand to hand combat to ensure a 100% safe environment. Are you Hollywood's next big action star? Prove yourself at our first ever Stage Combat Camp!
